Do you think I’m pretty?

As a single lady, you will struggle with the desire to be thought of as attractive.  In the absence of flowers, compliments, and an endless dating calendar, you will need to find a different metric to measure yourself by.

This struggle is a journey.  Some days it will be hard and some days it will be easier.

My 2 cents…We need to give ourselves a break when it comes to the beauty thing. Overall, I think that we (you and I) are a lot more attractive than we think or feel we are.

In an upcoming post, I’m going to dig a little deeper into what it means to be attractive.

In the meantime, here are some practical tips:

  • Easier said then done, but find your worth in who God says you are.  During those times when I struggle with beauty issues,  I meditate on Psalm 45:11.
  • Consider your influences.  If a magazine, web article, circle of friends, etc. makes you feel less than, you may want to consider cutting those influences out of your life.
  • Accentuate the positive: There’s nothing wrong with finding a signature style that suits your personality, features, and body type.  (If you’re not sure where to start, enlist the help a fashion savvy friend, magazine, blog…)

  1. Very true, needed reminder. I wish this wasn’t something girls struggled with so much! I think it’s important to have a confidence in who we are as creations of a loving God, and to go out of our way to compliment the people around us and be the encouragement we need in return!

For the record, you are beautiful, and I’m so thankful to have you as a friend.
